  Requirements:

The requirements for this class is science 10 and math 10

  Core Curriculum

Chemistry 11 at Palmer is a class that introduces you toward laboratory technical skills, math-based problem solving. The class is about the five Big Ideas. The first is about how atoms and molecules are the main building blocks of matter. The second is that the mole is the essential unit that is used to make particles measurable. The third is that chemical reactions involve the conservation of both matter and energy. You will also explore how the nature of solutes and solvents determines solubility and look at the broad world of organic chemistry and the last is how it impacts human health and the environment.

Key Topics

  • The Mole Concept: This unit will teach you to count by weighing and using balanced equations to calculate the exact amount of reactants and products.

  • Atomic Theory: In this unit students will be moving beyond basic models to understand electron design, periodic trends, and how electrostatic forces create chemical bonds.

  • Solution Chemistry: Studying the behavior of ions in water, calculating molarity, and performing titrations.

  Conclusion

To wrap it all up, that is what happens in Chemistry 11 and the key topics you’ll be learning. It marks a big difference because you went from going from general observation to now precise measurement
